Koraisa Khatun, 35, the first wife of Shekh Balal, has murdered her husband’s younger wife Khurshida Khatun, 22, at Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-4.
Koraisa Khatun killed her with a sharp-edged weapon used to cut straws.
Khatun had packed the body in a bag and was to throw it away when police confiscated the body, said the police.
Police Inspector Ram Kishor Sah said, “We arrested the accused while she was trying to escape by jumping off from the terrace of her house.”
Sah said that the weapon was hidden below the stairs.
According to the neighbours, Balal had gone abroad for employment a few days earlier.
Koraisa and Khursida used to get into fight quite frequently, they said.
Inspector Sah informed that the accused was in police custody for further investigation.
