Kathmandu, June 13: After the government decision of odd and even number greatly confused the motorcycle riders as well as the traffic police, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, Friday said that it would soon issue a separate guideline to regulate all the private vehicles and implement the provision of the odd and even number plates.
Traffic policemen in the capital this morning put on hold over 1,000 two wheelers for carrying pillion rider and not abiding by the odd and even number provision, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhim Dhakal said.
The Cabinet meeting held on June 10 had not clearly mentioned whether the odd and even number provision was also for the two wheelers.
"Because of this confusion, we did not allow the two wheelers bearing odd plate numbers ply along the valley road this morning," SSP Dhakal said.
He also said the private four wheelers except for those of essential services are also prohibited from plying from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
"We have also apprised the District Administration Office of this confusion," he said.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Janak Raj Dahal said the confusion would be cleared soon by issuing a separate guideline.
Until the guideline gets published, the odd and even number provision would be applied to the two wheelers as well, he said.
However, the odd and even number plate provision will not be applicable to those vehicles which possess the pass issued by the government, he added.
