Kathmandu, Nov 27: A scooter rider died while a pillion rider was injured when a speeding tipper hit the scooter today at Adarshan Chowk of Suryabinayak Municipality-8 along the Araniko Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Asim Limbu, 24, originally from Dhankuta and currently residing in Kusunti, Lalitpur. Similarly, injured in the incident was 26-year-old Sandeep Maharjan of Patan, Lalitpur, according to the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.
The incident took place when a tipper (Ba 3 Kha 5423) coming from Suryabinayak Municipality and moving towards Jagati hit the scooter (Ba 57 Pa 3113), informed DSP Deepak Giri.
Critically injured Maharjan is currently receiving treatment at B and B Hospital. Tipper driver Kiran Kunwar Yogi, 31, originally from Dang and currently residing in Machhapokhari, Kathmandu has been arrested. He had fled the scene following the accident.
Further investigation into the accident was underway, added DSP Giri.
