Kathmandu, June 2 : Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) welcomed over 12,000 passengers in this May while the number of passengers who had exited from the airport during this period is double of it.
The data unveiled by the Department of Immigration showed that of the passengers disembarking at the country’s sole international airport last month, 1,468 were foreigners while remaining 10,932were Nepali citizens. Likewise, among those leaving for various destinations from TIA, 9,977 were foreigners and remaining 13,158 were Nepali nationals.
In May, a less number of foreigners arrived Nepal via TIA while in April the highest number of tourists (22,450) from 144 countries, since the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent months-long lockdown, entered the country via TIA. The number of inbound Nepali passengers was 51,775 in April.
