Three go missing in Karnali as boat capsizes
By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, Aug. 1: Three persons have gone missing in the Karnali River after the boat they were riding on capsized in the river.
The accident occurred in the river where it flows through Mauhanyal Rural Municipality of Kailali district and Chaukune Rural Municipality of Surkhet district.
There were 10 people on the boat when it overturned. All the people were from Mauhanyal Rural Municipality and they were coming to Chaukune to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Ram Prasad Gharti, DSP at the district police office, Surkhet, said seven of the ten people are safe and that of the three missing persons, two are women and a child.
Details of the accident are yet to be ascertained although police personnel has already reached the incident site, he added.
