By Lokendra Joshi, Darchula, July 8: Three persons have been killed in the landslide at Khar village of Naugad Rural Municipality-3 in Darchula district.
Narendra Chand, police inspector and information officer of the district police office, Darchula, informed that Laxman Sitoli, 29, Geudi Thagunna, 72, and her three-month granddaughter Manjari Thagunna died as the landslides buried them.
Initially, they were missing in the landslides, and their bodies were recovered.
Harmati Thagunna, 18, sustained injuries in her leg due to the landslide, according to police inspector Chand. The landslide swept away a buffalo of Nandu Thagunna.
Meanwhile, the flooded Kharkhola stream has washed away the houses of Gaur Singh Thagunna and Gothe Tamata located at Naugad Rural Municipality-3.
Prakash Singh Dhami, a local, said that the houses at the riverside were also at high risk of landslides and flooding.
Flooded Kharkhola has also swept away the 32-kw power project, Kharkhola Second hydroelectricity project.
It has been raining heavily since Wednesday evening in the area. Personnel of Nepal police and the armed police force have been deployed for the rescue operations there.
