Singati, Nov. 8: A preliminary study report on Tsho Rolpa glacial lake carried out jointly by Central Department of Geography of Tribhuwan University (TU), Kritipur, The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and two universities of the United Kingdom has been made public.
Chief of Geography Department of TU Hridayalal Koirala said, “The report has been made public by organising a one-day workshop at Singati of Dolakha district.”
The concerned stakeholders had participated in the workshop, where interaction about the evaluation of flood that might occur due to the destruction of the natural dams was done.
Prof. Dr. Prem Sagar Chapagain said that 10 work papers were presented in the workshop. Representatives of ICIMOD, Loughborough University, New Castle University, United Nations Development Project (UNDP) and the Department of Geography had presented their papers on the study report.
Member of the House of Representatives Parbat Gurung, State Assembly member Pashupati Chaulagain, former State Minister Devi Khadka, chairman of Singati Rural Municipality Yudhistir Khadka, Swayam Bahadur Khadka and Nar Bahadur Shrestha stressed the need for finding a sustainable solution to prevent flooding in Tsho Rolpa.
