Janakpurdham, June 8: The State 2 government Sunday endorsed its policy and programme for the Fiscal Year 2020/21.
Governor of State 2 Tilak Pariyar unveiled the policy and programme in the State Assembly meeting today.
The State government has prioritised prevention and control of COVID-19 along with the development of health sector, tourism sector, education sector, infrastructural development, agricultural production and employment opportunities in its policy and programme for the upcoming FY.
The plans set by the State government also focused on execution of the federal government’s fiscal policy, periodic plans and achieving the sustainable development goals.
Likewise, in the upcoming FY, State 2 would focus on the implementation of State’s first 5-year plan, mid-term expense structure, sustainable development and continuation of the plans and programmes of the ongoing FY.
The State government has also decided to double the budget of the health sector to combat the deadly COVID-19 and protect people’s life. Additional quarantine and isolation centres would be set up in the State depending upon the need.
Furthermore, the State government would facilitate contact tracing, PCR testing and treatment of those infected with the virus in continuous coordination with the federal government and local levels.
The State’s policy and programme for the upcoming FY also focused on increasing the procurement, construction and distribution of all health equipment and infrastructure required to fight the virus.
The government has planned to establish a 200-bedded State Epidemiology Disease Control Hospital in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-16, Jhitkaiya, Bara district and in Jaleshwor, Mahottari district.
Moreover, the tax rates would be discounted and Small Grant Programme would be introduced for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
For the agricultural sector, the State government has planned to introduce agriculture ambulance service, standard floor price of the local products, public procurement, transportation grant and other grants for Cooperatives of the consumers.
The government has also planned to introduce resurgence programme of tourism entrepreneurship and operate a special programme for the promotion of domestic tourism.
Also, packages incorporating various facilities, like security of labourers, operation of industries in full efficiency, ease in import and transport of raw materials would be provided for industrial sector in the upcoming FY.
The State government has also framed a plan to bring State Industrial Enterprise Act and Rules into effect.
‘Youth self-employment and entrepreneurship development’ programme is to be introduced by State 2 to cater more employment opportunities for those who had returned home from abroad due to the pandemic. The government would also promote establishment of small and cottage industries to provide job opportunities.
The State government would also be prioritise development and facilitation in construction sector, among others during the FY 2020/21.
