Sarlahi, Nov. 11: Family members and relatives of deceased Bikau Sah, 24, have demanded Nepali citizenship certificates to his family members as compensation.
His family members had denied accepting his body for four days demanding compensation.
Sah was killed in a dispute with local youths last Thursday while playing a dice game. He was hit to death by an iron rod during a brawl with his friends.
His last rites were performed only on Sunday night.
Police had arrested Santosh Jha of Bishnu Rural Municipality -2 in the murder case. During the incident, Sah, including Santosh Jha were playing dice near Nepal-India border.
The family members of Sah had staged a demonstration for three days keeping the body in front of the Ward Office of Bishnu Rural Municipality-2.
Representatives from the local bodies and the local administration office have denied issuing citizenship certificate to the deceased Sah, after he was proven an Indian citizen born to a Nepali mother and an Indian father.
Sah’s family has been residing in Nepal for many years.
Ward chairman of Bishnu Rural Municipality-2 Jabaharlal Raya Yadav said the family members of Sah put forth the demand of citizenship certificate in his name after coming into influence of some political groups.
Though the local government has sympathy over his killing, the government could not provide citizenship of Nepal to an Indian citizen, he said.
