Hetauda, Feb. 20: Residents of Kailash and Rakshirang Rural Municipalities in Makwanpur district have been facing difficulty to commute during monsoon.
Parewabhir of Rakshirang is infamous on national level for not having even a foot trail during rainy season. Many passersby have lost their lives by falling off the treacherous cliff into the swift Manahari River.
Parewabhir lies on the path connecting Malekhu of Dhading with Manahari Bazaar of Makwanpur.
Efforts made by the local government to solve this problem are becoming successful as a road with strong foundation is being built under the investment of Rs. 20 million.
After the provincial government shrugged off the project, the municipality raised budget on its own to build the road. The municipality managed Rs. 20 million while outgoing member of the House of Representatives Birodh Khatiwada managed additional Rs. 20 million through the Ministry of Finance.
Chairperson of Rakshirang Rural Municipality Raj Kumar Malla said, “The road should be constructed alongside the Manahari River with strong foundation using rods and concrete. We hope to bring it to use by monsoon.”
According to a contract agreement, the project is likely to complete within 18 months.
The municipality has estimated the road to cost more than Rs. 66 million.
However, contractor Lama Baniya JV has assured to complete the project in around Rs. 43 million. According to the agreement, strong concrete shall be used to build a wall in order to construct the 630-meter long road.
The distance from Manahari Bazaar to Malekhu is only 52 km via Manahari-Chainpur-Botwari-Parewabhir.
While all the routes are in use, Parewabhir is the only obstruction. Chairperson of Kailash Rural Municipality Tanka Bahadur Moktan informed that once the project is completed, the route would come into use.
