Prachanda-Nepal faction collects citizenship certificates of CC members

Kathmandu, Feb. 20: The central committee meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) convened on Friday to hold discussion on the recent political situation and the political struggle the faction has been waging against the House dissolution.
During the meeting held at Parisdanda, chairmen Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal briefed about the current political situation.
Party Spokesperson and coordinator of the central struggle committee Narayan Kaji Shrestha briefed the meeting about the outcome of the agitation programmes being carried out by
the party against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Talking to The Rising Nepal, Shrestha said that the meeting concluded that the movement against the dissolution of the parliament was getting strong public support.
“The decision to dissolve the parliament has proved to be a regression, because all the political parties, civil society, intellectuals, professionals, media and others have called the government’s move a regression,” said Shrestha.
The meeting has called upon the party leaders and cadres to work actively to make the political struggle, which is against the regressive move of the government, successful, he added.
Further protests were underway to rectify the dissolution of the House of Representatives, he said, adding that the agitation was called also to revoke the appointments made in the constitutional bodies.
The meeting also concluded that their faction would get the legitimacy of the party from the Election Commission, Nepal.
According to him, the meeting also decided to complete the party unification process within a few days.
Since the debate on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HOR) ended in the Supreme Court on Friday, chairmen and the central committee members expressed their confidence that the court would restore the HoR, Shrestha said.
The faction on Thursday had called its central members to Parisdada with their citizenship certificates. The central members present at the meeting submitted a copy of their citizenship certificate along with their signatures.
The faction claimed that they had collected the copy of citizenship certificates of 288 central committee members.
