Woman died of postpartum complications Monday at Jagannath rural municipality-5 in Bajura, the District Hospital Bajura confirmed.
Pulti Rawal, 35, of Gotri who gave birth at home was brought to the Gotri Community Health Centre in an unconscious state following the postpartum bleeding caused by a retained placenta.
Her condition was improved after the placenta was removed at the centre. She regained her consciousness and took biscuits and tea by sitting in the sun. But, the condition deteriorated all of a sudden and she died, said centre's health assistant Amar Budha.
Earlier, an attempt was made to take her outside through a helicopter, but the plan was stopped after she showed improvement, according to District Hospital chief Dr Rupchandra Bishwakarma.
Earlier, five new mothers were rescued in Bajura under the President Rescue Assistance Programme.
