Anti-narcotic squad of Nepal Police detained two Nepali international drug racketeers from Kathmandu and Pokhara a few days ago.

The arrested international drug traders – Rajendra Prasad Pandey and Surendra Prasad Pandey—were running their illegal drug trade staying in the U.S. and Canada.

"Upon our monitoring lasting for months, we have become able to nab them from Nepal when they arrived here this week," SSP Dinesh Amatya at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police said.

According to the police, the arrestees were siblings.

Rajendra Prasad Pandey was also identified as owner of Hotel Delight of Paknajol of Thamel-16 and Surendra Pandey from Lakeside of Pokhara Metropolitan City-6, Kaski. Both of them were running their hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, said police.

The Bureau team detained them on October 21 and 22 from Kathmandu and Pokhara.

According to the police, the consignment of illegal drug (Marijuana) and hashish with a total weight of 6.400 kilograms were brought from Canada via Fly Dubai air concealing it inside an audio music player system.

During the raids at the hotel, police seized five kilograms of marijuana and additional 1.400 gram was seized while it was being imported to Nepal from Canada from the Tribhuvan International Airport, police said.

Achyut Tripathi, of Panchkhal Municipality-10 of Kavrepalanchowk district, had gone to receive the consignment at the TIA airport and based upon his information, Pandey duo’s misconduct was revealed, said police. Police had also arrested Tripathi on October 21.

Police raided the audio music system which was passed from the airport and reached the cargo office of the airport. At the cargo office, police broke the seal of the music system and seized the illegal contraband there, SP Amatya said.

SP Amatya said that Pandey duo were identified as main traders to Nepal being international drug trader agent here.

They admitted that they had imported the contraband from the airport several times on different dates.
