Pokhara, May 17: The Pokhara Metropolitan City office has asked the locals to strictly enforce the lockdown in their locality.
The metropolis has asked the locals to strictly enforce lockdown in their locality and take action against lockdown violators.
Following the decision, the locals of the metropolis have quarantined people coming from outside.
People are taking measures to keep them inside. Locals have padlocked the houses of those people who have recently travelled from outside of Pokhara.
Recently, a locals of Nayabazar Pokhara-9 have kept a family who recently travelled all the way from Parsa in quarantine.
The locals have padlocked the house of Navin Taily, who recently travelled from Birgunj of Parsa. Taily and his three other family members reached Nayabazar last week.
The locals have requested his family to stay inside their house because they have travelled from virus-affected area.
Taily’s family left for Parsa before the lockdown to attend his family rituals.
The city office has also asked Taily family to stay confined inside their house until further notice of the ward office.
“They are not allowed to step out of their house for certain days because the locals are quite afraid because they had travelled from the coronavirus-hit place,” sard secretary Lok Darshan Koirala said.
Appreciating the act of the locals of Nayabazar, the city office has asked its locals to act watchfully in their neighbourhood to prevent the virus outbreak.
The metropolis has handed over the authority to take action against the lockdown violators.
The Pokhara metropolis has also prepared a new guideline to transfer the power to enforce the lockdown strictly.
The locals have padlocked their house straightaway after their car entered their house, said ward chair Ram Raj Lamichhane.
“Locals informed the ward office immediately after the Taily family was seen in their locality,” Lamichhane said.
They are now under close inspection of their neighbours and ward office, said Lamichhane.
As they are padlocked, the officials of ward office are providing all the essentials goods needed for his family, he added.
“They call our officials if they need anything” said Koirala, adding that the local stakeholders have decided to keep Taily family under home quarantine.
This initiation of the locals of Nayabazaar has forced the city office to make guidelines to prevent virus outbreak by controlling people’s arrival from outside of the city
The metropolis has allowed local people to decide the rule they prefer if anyone in their neighbourhood violates the rule of lockdown.
“In last two days, 60 people have entered inside the city, majority of them from Parsa,” said Arjun Aryal focal person of Pokhara Metropolis.
The city office has been enforcing the lockdown strictly, said Aryal.
