Kathmandu Dec. 31: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Tuesday that the foundation the country set for development and prosperity would visibly reach its peak by the end of the next year.
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of the New Year 2020, Prime Minister Oli said, “I assure you all that by next year, the leap the country has taken forward toward the national prosperity will reach its zenith.”
There were challenges for the government to drive the country, which was plunged into malpractice and uncertainty for a long period, toward the path of development and prosperity, said PM Oli, adding that the government had been making a continuous effort for a long term benefit of the country and its people.
“By the end of next year, our campaign to guarantee happy life for our people and national prosperity will reach a meaningful point. We will never let down the people’s aspirations,” he said.
PM Oli further sought support of the people from different walks of life to achieve the national goal.
Reviewing the year 2019, PM Oli said the year remained as an achievement year of stable politics.
“This year, the country has succeeded to make a significant presence in the international arena and welcomed guests from the neighbouring countries in the context of the historic Visit Nepal Year,” he added.
Furthermore, the country ended the secessionist tendency for ever, said PM Oli, adding that the government had initiated some long-lasting development policy and had completed some projects which had made the people realise changes in their lives.
Reconstruction of the infrastructure destroyed by the devastating earthquake some four years ago was about to complete, he added.
“Nepal has further upgraded its status as a safe zone for investment. By reducing import and increasing export, Nepal has succeeded to lay the foundation of a strong economy,” PM Oli said.
He said, “The society that used to spend time by exchanging despairs has now started talking about development, good governance and prosperity by clearing transitional worries.”
The country had further stepped ahead to achieve the national goal of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali, he added. “The whole society has shifted their discourse from political struggle and administration to development and prosperity.”
PM Oli said the country is marking 2020 as Visit Nepal Year and Nepal would welcome millions of tourists this year.
