Dailekh, Nov. 29: Exploration of petroleum products has been delayed due to geographical constraints in Dailekh district.
For exploration, drilling was to be done to 45 feet down. But due to the geographical difficulty, the work has been halted.
Geologist Dr. Ganeshnath Tripathi said that though exploration was being carried out, the work pace had not been that satisfactory.
The drilling would be easy in the Terai land, but due to cliffs, rocks and hills found in hilly terrain, the exploration is quite hard here, said Tripathi.
According to Tripathi, a team of 10 experts have been deployed for the seismic survey at the site. After drilling the land, the team will carry out its study on the possibility of petroleum mining.
According to him, 15 experts are working for geological survey, 22 for magnet survey and six experts for geochemical surveys. He further said the explosion of rocks would begin soon.
The main drilling will be carried out after the explosion via the electrical wave. The Chinese technicians will be asked for procuring the required equipment for drilling works.
The machine for the main drilling task weighs more than 50 tonnes, said Tripathi, adding it would also be difficult for us to bring the machine at the drilling site.
The technicians have also complained that the geographical constraints and lack of road have posed difficulty and risk for transporting the drilling machine to the site.
Chief District Officer Yubraj Kattel said that the District Security Committee had taken the responsibility of explosives and other important security.
A technical team of China and Nepal will carry out the work of explosion with the electrical wave, said Kattel.
The team of around 150 from the Department of Mines and Geology and Geological Survey Company of China are now working at the drilling site.
