Kathmandu, July 27: The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the parliament has directed rescinding the Chapter on Crime against the Protection of Fetus in the Penal Code-2017.
During the discussions held on Monday, the Ministry of Health and Population; and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs was instructed to amend the definition of Right to Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Act-2018 and its Chapter 4 and Crime and Punishment.
In the meeting, lawmakers Laxman Lal Karna, Sher Bahadur Tamang, Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma, and Health Secretary Dr Roshan Pokhrel underlined the need of amending the contradicting laws.
Women, Law and Development Forum's executive director Sabin Shrestha apprised the meeting of problems of contradicting laws.
