Kathmandu, Mar. 12: Private and Boarding School Organisation Nepal (PABSON) has constructed a PABSON community settlement at Ramdhuni Municipality in Sunsari district with a plan to settle the flood victims of the area.
The PABSON informed that construction of the settlement has almost completed, and it would hand over the settlement to the Koshi flood victims through the municipality on coming Tuesday, March 15.
A total of 25 families will be settled at the settlement, D.K Dhungana, co-chairman of the PABSON, said.
According to Dhungana, the PABSON had started the construction of the settlement four years ago after the municipality made available one bigaha land for building the settlement. The settlement was prepared at a cost of Rs. 15 million which was collected voluntarily from its member schools.
Dhungana informed that schools donated from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 500,000 for the settlement construction.
Each house of the settlement has two rooms, one kitchen and one toilet/bathroom with the facility of water and other necessities, Yubaraj Basistha, coordinator of the settlement construction project, said. Homeless people will be given the houses, he said.
Now, painting work is going on in the houses. Dhungana informed that schools donated from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 500,000 for the settlement construction.
Similarly, the PABSON has also constructed its own office building named "PABSON Shiksha Mandir" at Tinkune, Kathmandu, at Rs. 140 million.
The building will be inaugurated by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel on March 23, the PABSON informed.
Meanwhile, organising a press conference on Thursday, PABSON informed that its general convention is going to be held on March 23 and 24 at the Nepal Academy Hall of Kathmandu. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the conference.
Tika Ram Puri, chairman of the organisation, informed that PABSON is going to conduct its 15th general convention with a slogan "Education with skill, culture and Technology, quality human resource is current requirement". The convention is expected to discuss the investment security of private sector, impact of COVID-19 on education sector, methodology for skill, culture and technology oriented education and others.
A total of 5,000 private schools across the nation are its member and 2,246 delegates from those schools are selected for the convention. The convention will elect its new leadership. Till now only D.K Dhungana, co-chair of the PABSON, has announced his candidacy for the post of chairman. The PABSON stated that they will try their best to elect its new leadership unanimously.
Recently, National Private and Boarding School Association of Nepal (NPABSAN), another organisation of private schools, concluded its general convention in Banke, electing Pandav Hamal as its new chairman.
