Dhangadhi, Dec.1 : More than 37 per cent of the population of the Sudhurpachhim Province has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of Social Development of the province, 731,790 people have received full dose of the vaccine. Similarly, 787,342 people have received first dose of the jab. With this, 37.56 per cent of the population has received both the doses and 40.41 percent first dose.
The province has a target of administering 1,948,338 people with the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the ministry, the vaccine coverage is higher in Darchula than any other districts in the province. There, 61, 750 people have received both the doses, while 68,092 have received the single shot. The district has set a target to vaccinate 95,801 people.
In other eight districts of the province, the vaccine coverage has not meet the national average. In Bajura, 23,573 (22.76 per cent) people have received full dose and 41,190 (39.77 per cent) people have received the single shot. The district has a target to vaccinate 103,578 people.
Similarly, among 147,723 target population in Bajhang district, 34.56 per cent has received both the doses and 36.13 per cent the single dose. In Dadeldhura, 23.64 per cent of the population has received both the shots and 30.2 per cent the single dose.
Among 167,291 target people in Baitadi district, 31.14 per cent has received both the shots and 36.61 has received the single shot.
In Doti, 36.60 per cent population has received both the doses and 35.03 per cent the single dose. Achham district has a target to vaccinate 191,270 people and by now 34.14 per cent has received both the doses and 30.24 per cent the single dose.
Similarly, Kailali is the district with a target to administer highest number of people -- 634,644. Among them, 42.69 per cent has received both the doses and 46.30 only the single shot. In Kanchanpur district, 36.22 per cent people has received full dose while 36.12 per cent has received the single shot. Earlier, the vaccination campaign was conducted for the prioritised groups. The campaign is being conducted for all people above 18 years of age in the province, according to spokesperson for the ministry, Narendra Singh Karki.
“The vaccine coverage is good after allowing all people above 18 years of age in the campaign,” said Karki.
