Panchthar, May 31 : A person died and two others sustained injuries in an ambulance accident last night.
The Taplejung-bound ambulance (Province 1-01-001 Cha 7703) from Birtamodh of Jhapa met with accident after it fell off the road 15 meters down at Fidim municipality-3, Sumrimachowk at around 2.40 am.
Mamata Rai, 50, of Yangwarak rural municipality-2, Falaincha of Panchthar district, who was seriously injured in the accident, died while undergoing treatment at the District Hospital Fidim at 3.40 this morning.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of District Police Office Panchthar Dan Bahadur Thapa informed that Heman Subba of Yangwarak rural municipality and Dong Kumar Rai of Sidingwa rural municipality-3 of Taplejung sustained injuries in the accident. Now the injured are being treated at the District Hospital Fidim.
The accident took place when they were returning home after receiving treatment in Jhapa. Police took the ambulance and its driver under control for investigation.
