Kathmandu, July 31 : The National Youth Council (NYC) is to celebrate this year's International Youth Day for a week. The IYD is being celebrated on August 12 around the theme – "Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health."
A 1,001-member Main Programme Committee has been formed under the Minister for Youth and Sports while a Secretariat level Programme Committee has been constituted under the Chairpersonship of Council vice-president Madhav Prasad Dhungel, for making the IYD successful.
The Council has been conducting various programmes on the occasion of the IYD for the youth leadership development.
Council vice-president Dhungel said programmes as interaction and oratory contest on youth policy, blood donation, sapling plantation and duet song competition will be organised from August 2.
As he said, the Council is organising a grand programme on August 12 where President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be the Chief Guest. Dhungel added that the programme will be held virtually this time due to the coronavirus.
All the 77 district youth committees and the National Youth Network have been directed to celebrate the IYD.
