Number of industries increasing in Birendranagar industrial area

By Our Correspondent, Surkhet, Nov. 9: Infrastructure development work in Birendranagar Industrial area has been moving rapidly.

The number of large investment industries has been rising in the industrial area established on 7 November 1981. There are food-based industry, water processing industry, engineering workshop, wood-related industry, poultry farms, and energy-based industries.

The administrative head of the industrial area, Jiba Narayan Banjade, said that there are industries having an investment of more than Rs. 10 million and four more industries are under construction. The Karnali cold chain logistic industry has been under-construction with an investment of over Rs. 200 million. Both the Surkashya Gyabing and PN Foods are being established with investments of Rs. 10 million each. The plastic-related MK Nepal industry is being set up with an investment of Rs 2.5 million.

Lately, Surkhet Dairy Industry, Bhavani Printing and Gangamala wood and furniture industry with an investment of Rs. 150 million, Rs. 5 million and Rs 3 million respectively have started operation in the industrial area.

There are 5 industrial buildings and 5 commercial shutters and 27 industries in the 90 ropani land of the industrial area.

Out of these,  21 industries have been running

Banjade said that the industrial area has created employment for more than 300 people.

Two industries have been sealed and are under investigation, he said.

The industrial area earned Rs 5.3 million and 25 thousand in the fiscal year 2020/21. He said that older industries are being closed and new ones have been set up. He said that area of land is not sufficient although the attraction of investors to the industrial area has gone up.
