Simkot, Oct 17 : Nepal Telecom has installed a very small aperture terminal (VSAT) in Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla.
The VSAT installation means to facilitate residents of the district who were deprived of telephone service during winter, said NTC, Humla chief Shiva Prasad Bhattarai.
Radio link experiences glitches due to snowfall especially during winter in the district, thus disrupting telephone service. VSAT service that came into operation from today would be useful when radio link gets glitches, added Bhattarai.
In the past, local people were deprived of telephone service for at least one month following problems on radio links. Some days ago, a technical team from Kathmandu reached Simkot to repair network towers at Sarkegad Rural Municipality-2 and Simkot Rural Municipality-7.
