Lahan, Nov 24: Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) presidium coordinator Rajendra Mahato said on Sunday that there was no possibility of getting the party united with the Socialist Party any time soon.
Talking to media persons here, leader Mahato, who had been in Siraha to attend the party programme, said that the Socialist Party was still in the government and in this context, the unification was not possible.
However, he said the party continued discussions with the Socialist and other parties as it sought to build an alternative democratic political force. "New alternative political force is the need of the hour."
The party was not in the position of supporting the federal government until cases filed against those involved in the Madhes movement launched for the constitution amendment were withdrawn.
As he said, the party had taken the upcoming May 30 by-election as a referendum for the identity of Madhes.
