By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Feb 12: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), a human rights body, has urged the National Human Rights Commission, India, to take necessary step for an impartial investigation into the case of gang rape and murder of 12-year-old Nepali girl in Bihar, India.
Writing a letter to the human rights body of India on Thursday, the NHRC requested the Indian counterpart to bring the perpetrators to justice by conducting an impartial investigation into such heinous and inhumane incidents and providing compensation to the victim’s family.
Sumitra B.K, a 12-year old girl from Barbardiya Municipality-3 of Bardiya, was allegedly murdered and burnt to death after being gang-raped in Kunduwa, Champaran District of the Indian State of Bihar on January 21.
The NHRC, in another statement, also drew the attention of the government of Nepal to take necessary diplomatic initiatives for the justice and security of the victim’s family in connection with the incident.
