Kathmandu, June 16: The stock market index NEPSE, which set new records by increasing 81.04 points in two days, showed a marginal correction on Tuesday.
The NEPSE index has declined by 3.72 points (0.12 per cent) to close at 3,022.10 points on Tuesday. The NEPSE had increased by 81.04 points on the last two trading days of the week, on Sunday and Monday.
However, the sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies increased by 0.25 points (0.04 per cent) to close at 550.26 points.
A total of 30,948,853 shares worth Rs. 16.52 billion of 226 companies were sold in 164,790 transactions today.
The sub-indices of banking, trading, development bank, hydropower, finance, non-life insurance, microfinance and life insurance have decreased while the sub-indices of hotel and tourism, manufacturing and production and others group increased.
Sub-index of development group posted the highest fall of 222.89 points followed by hydropower and finance group whose indices decreased by 90.75 points and 86.51 points respectively.
Similarly, microfinance, trading, life-insurance, banking and non-life insurance groups’ sub-indices decreased by 39.14 points, 11.06 points, 10.48 points, 6.8 points and 1.76 points respectively.
However, the sub-indices of others group increased by 90.36 points, manufacturing and production by 72.92 points, hotel and tourism by 58.25 points and investment by 2.29 points in the today’s transaction.
Shares of three companies, including CEDB Hydropower Development Company, Khanikhola Hydropower and Union Hydropower traded at positive circuit levels.
Shares of CEDB Hydropower Development Company increased highest by 9.88 per cent, followed by Khanikhola Hydropower by 9.82 per cent and Union Hydropower by 9.78 per cent.
However, share prices of Chhyangdi Hydropower decreased by 9.49 per cent, Liberty Energy Company by 7.02 per cent and Barun Hydropower by 6.98 per cent.
