Kathmandu, May 21 : The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has decided to move ahead in consultations with other parties regarding the latest political developments.
A meeting of the office-bearers and former office-bearers held at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba's residence at Budhanilkantha this morning decided to hold discussions with other political parties in connection with the move taken by the President for the purpose of forming a government in accordance with Article 76(5) of the Constitution.
The meeting concluded that the President's latest move was against the main spirit of the Constitution and also decided to move ahead in consultation with other parties, NC joint general secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday called on the Member of Parliament to present a basis until 5 pm today for taking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives for the purpose of appointment to the post of Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76(5) of the Constitution.
