Kathmandu, April. 14: At a time when the COVID-19 cases are spreading rapidly across the country, the Nepali Congress COVID-19 Monitoring Committee on Tuesday urged the government to work properly to control the pandemic.
NC joint general secretary and the Committee coordinator Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat in a statement suggested the government 8-point measures to control COVID-19.
He urged the government to ensure immediate supply of health materials keeping in mind that number of serious patients were increasing. He also suggested proper checkup and quarantine management for those who arrived in Nepal from international flights and from across the border area and increase PCR tests by making contract tracing more effective.
Dr. Mahat also demanded that supply of vaccines should be ensured for all citizens through diplomatic initiatives, incentive should be provided to health workers and technical health secretary be appointed.
Stating that the country could not bear lockdown again, the NC suggested compulsory provisions for all to use mask and maintain physical distance and implement health protocols in offices and work places.
He also stressed on actions not on tall talks to contain COVID-19.
Mahat said the NC had taken the looming dangerous situation in which more people will be infected and die seriously, but the government was doing nothing to avert such a dangerous situation.
