Nawalpur, Nov 27: Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta east) district convention of the Nepali Congress has been postponed. The Nepali Congress postponed the district convention, citing a lack of preparations for the convention.
The district convention scheduled for November 26 and 27 would now take place on December 5-6, said Assistant District Election Officer, Chudamani Sharma Kandel.
Kandel shared that nomination of candidates would be filed on December 5 and voting would take place on December 6 as per the new schedule.
The district convention has been postponed after the contestants of the regional president of constituency-2 of the district received equal votes in vote count and recounting could not take place.
Both Surya Gurung and Jagar Karki had received equal 394 votes. The district convention was postponed after a decision was taken at the consent of both candidates to take the decision through a recount.
A consent was reached to recount at 11:00 am today.
