Morang, Nov 1: Nepali Congress central member and former Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala has announced her candidacy for party president in the upcoming party's 14th general convention.
She reached eastern Nepal to announce her candidacy for party president, which she said was in view of people's wishes for a woman to become NC's president, NC leader said to media persons at Biratnagar Airport. It may be noted that her late father NC's President Girija Prasad Koirala would reach Morang district to announce his candidacy for party president in its general conventions.
In another context, leader Koirala said that the possibility of early elections has increased given the current political scenario.
She also commented on the recent conflict scenes at the Supreme Court, viewing that "Court, a centre of faith and trust for people, should be free and impartial in democracy."
Koirala stressed the need for all constitutional bodies to carry out their duty impartially.
On issues of NC's collaboration with the coalition partners in the next elections, she ruled out this. "NC should not collaborate with other coalition partners having different ideologies and thoughts in the elections."
