Biratnagar, March 18 : Former President of Nepali Congress Morang district committee Ashok Koirala passed away last night. He was 75.
Nepali Congress district leader Santanu Regmi said that Koirala died while receiving treatment of pneumonia at Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital.
Koirala was elected the mayor of Biratnagar city after the restoration of democracy in 2046 BS.
Likewise, Koirala was also elected the Constituent Assembly (CA) member from Morang Constituency-4 in 2070 BS.
The final rites of Koirala would be performed this afternoon at local Hatkhola, leader Regmi shared.
The NC leader leaves behind his spouse, a son and a daughter.
NC leaders Dr Shashanka Koirala, Dr Shekhar Koirala, Dr Minendra Rijal, Dr Dila Sangraula and Amrit Aryal are attending the funeral procession, Regmi said.
