Kathmandu, Feb 1 : Nepali Congress Arghakhanchi leader Harihar Acharya has passed away. Acharya, 70, breathed his last on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) after contracting coronavirus.
Acharya who tested positive for coronavirus has been under treatment for the past 19 days.
Acharya had tested negative while being treated on ventilator support some five days ago, shared his brother Yuwaraj Acharya. His health condition worsened in course of the treatment of pneumonia, Acharya added.
His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Sunday. NC senior leader Ramchandra Poudel and general secretary Dr Sashsanka Koirala had paid final homage to the late Acharya.
Acharya has long been in the politics of NC.
