Kathmandu, Feb 27 : Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha inspected the newly constructed Durbar High School on Friday. The school destroyed by the 2015 Gurkha Earthquake was reconstructed with the assistance of Chinese government.
Minister Shrestha along with Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Sushil Gyawali, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, You Yanqi, visited the school on the occasion of the Chinese New Year on Friday.
On the occasion, they handed over the educational and sports materials to the students. The school was reconstructed at the cost of Rs 850 million with the Chinese grant.
Information on the cost of reconstruction was shared by Director at central project implementation (education unit) Ramsharan Sapkota. Earlier, Sapkota had handed over the school to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya on October 21, 2020.
There are 42 rooms in the four-story building. Fire extinguisher, security, library and laboratory are available at the building. The building houses two schools – Bhanu Secondary School and Sanskit Secondary School.
