Kathmandu, June 17 : Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung has promised to bring a new era in the social sector.    
He said this in a session of the National Assembly today while replying to queries during deliberations over the 'Appropriation Bill-2077 BS'. He further pledged to take measures to fight against all forms of discrimination existing in the society and to make headway towards integrated social transformation.    
The government had come up with a plan of establishing senior citizens' home to pass on their knowledge, skills and experiences to the new generation. ''The government has adopted a policy of social transformation to end all sorts of discrimination like caste-based discrimination and untouchability, Chhapaudi and discrimination on witchery charge,'' he informed the session, adding that a campaign aiming to make the society self-sufficient by announcing Nepal a gender-friendly country had been launched.    
He went on to say that revision of curriculum right from schools was afoot to build a better society by eliminating all forms of discrimination.    
Tara Devi Bhatta and Anita Devkota expressed their concern over the alleged rape of a woman in coronavirus quarantine of Kailali and in response the Minister vowed to effectively implement the concerned laws. The Minister took time to inform the session that efforts had been accelerated under the government campaign to free the nation from street children.
