Tanahun, Sept. 15: Five megawatt of electricity has been generated from a solar plant in Belchautara, Shuklagandaki Municipality-5 of Tanahun. The electricity generated by Solar Farm has been connected to the national transmission line from Tuesday.

Solar Farm Private Limited has been completed for the first time in Nepal with permission to generate electricity from solar radiation.
Inaugurating the project, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal emphasised on the use of electric appliances.

She said that it was necessary to increase the use of electronic appliances as the production of electricity was gradually increasing in the country.
"I urge all citizens to replace imported gas by consuming domestic energy," said Minister Bhusal.

Stating that a campaign has been launched to strengthen the country of the economy by consuming more electricity, she suggested to emphasise on the use of electrical appliances from kitchen to road.
Energy Minister Bhusal said that the government had given priority to solar power generation along with hydropower as the mixed energy system has encouraged investors in Nepal.
She also said that the government has a plan to increase production by creating a conducive environment for investors.

She also urged the investors to increase investment in the energy sector as the government aims to fully electrify the country within next two years.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has agreed to purchase the generated electricity at Rs. 7.30 per unit for 25 years, said Hari Kumar Shrestha, shareholder and manager of the project.
At present, 13,500 panels have been connected to the farm to generate that amount of electricity.

The electricity generated from the farm is connected to the Belchautara substation, which is about 500 meters away from the project.
