Kathmandu, April 3: Minister for Forests and Environment Prem Bahadur Ale has directed the authorities concerned not to leave any stone unturned to provide treatment to the employees and enumerators who were injured in an attack of wild elephant 'Dhrube' during rhino census.
Minister Ale issued this directive to Member-Secretary of National Nature Conservation Trust Sharad Adhikari, Director-General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Dr Deep Kumar Kharal to take proactive measures in providing treatment to all those injured in the tusker attack.
The minister also asked all those involved in rhino count to adopt maximum alert in the census.
Likewise, Minister Ale directed the authorities to take ahead rhino count only after finding the location of the wild elephant 'Dhrube' and fixing the security issues.
As many as five employees and enumerators of the national park were injured after falling from elephants on Friday after the notorious 'Dhrube' chased away the team which was deputed in the western sector of Chitwan National Park nearby Madhyabindu municipality-2.
According to DG Dr Kharal, among the injured were Binod Shrestha, 35, an employee of the National Nature Conservation Trust, Deependra Chaudhary, 42, of Haripur municipality-7 of Sarlahi district and Peram Lal Kahar Chaudhary, 51, of Rautahat Chandanpur municipality-7.
The condition of Trust employee Shrestha among others is said to be critical and he is being treated at Kathmandu-based HAMS Hospital.
The rhino count has been adjourned for a day today after the incident, Dr Kharal informed.
