Kathmandu, Dec 13 : Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya today laid the foundation stone for a new building of the Madan Bhandari Memorial College at local Anamnagar. The new building is being constructed with cooperation from the metropolis.
The new building will be a four-storied structure and will be constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 90 million. KMC has provided Rs 50 million for the construction of the building.
The College was established two decades back and is named after people's leader the late Madan Kumar Bhandari. It is run by the Madan Bhandari Foundation.
Foundation chairperson Usha Kiran Bhandari, secretary Pemba Lama, Bagmati Province Assembly member Deepak Niraula were among the dignitaries present at the foundation-laying ceremony.
College Principal Dambar Bahadur Hamal said 1,500 students are studying at the College at present. The College runs classes from Class 11 to Master's level in Science, Journalism, Information Technology, English, among other subjects.
