Kathmandu, Dec 26 : The CPN (Maoist Centre) has invited top leaders of major political parties to an inaugural session of its eighth General Convention at 3:00 pm today at the local Kamaladi-based Nepal Academy.
It may be noted that the party renamed the ‘National Conference’ as the ‘General Convention’.
Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chair and erstwhile PM KP Sharma Oli are among those top political figures invited to the inauguration.
According to Chair Oli, he is presently in his home district Jhapa and will try his best to attend the ceremony.
If not possible, party General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel will represent him in the event. Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘ Prachanda’ is learnt to have phoned leader Oli, requesting the latter to be present in the inauguration.
Likewise, CPN (Unified Socialist ) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, and leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party, Rashtriya Janamorcha, Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party, CPN (ML), and RPP have been invited to the program. Earlier, the party had decided not to invite any guests to the event, citing that it was the National Conference. Later, the event was renamed the General Convention and the guests were invited, according to the party source.
Following the rename of the event, the inaugural session has been postponed by two hours and will be held at 3:00 pm.
