By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 8:  A motorcycle rider died in a road accident at Ravibhawan near Soaltee Mode in Kathmandu Friday morning.

The deceased was identified 23-year-old Tikaraj Gelal.

A high-speed motorcycle driven by Gelal, a permanent resident of Belbari in Morang district, was hit by a moving car.

The car driven by Lieutenant Colonel of Nepali Army, Shekhar Jung Bahadur Rana was heading to his office, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and chief at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Ramshahpath. Bhim Prasad Dhakal.

Deceased Gelal, who was riding the motorcycle with registration number Ba 72 Pa 8172 got struck with Colonel Rana's car with registration number Ba 21 Cha 4347.

The motorcycle was heading towards Kalanki from Kalimati while the car was heading towards Kalimati from Ravibhawan.

Ravibhawan road section in Kalanki has separate road lanes in the left and right sides for the vehicles passing from Kalanki and Kalimati.

SSP Dhakal said that the speed of the motorcycle so high that it jumped off to the opposite lane and hit the car.

Gelal succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at National Hospital in Kalanki, said police.

SSP Dhakal said that deceased Gelal was temporarily residing in Tankeshwore of Kalimati area and was working as a chicken meat carrier.
Meanwhile, the traffic police division arrested Lt. Colonel JBR for further interrogation.
The car used by JBR was also impounded by the traffic police.
