Janakpurdham, Dec. 1: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renu Kumari Yadav has said that the government is working to bring the necessary laws within a week for the operation of the train.
She said this while addressing the media persons after inspecting the physical infrastructure prepared for the operation of the train from Kurtha in Dhanusha to Jayanagar in India via Janakpur on Tuesday.
The government has already prepared an ordinance for the laws required for the operation of the train and she will go to Kathmandu today to sign the documents, she informed.
Minister Yadav said that the prime minister of India and the prime minister of Nepal would jointly inaugurate the railway through virtual means as the government of India was positive towards the operation of the railway. The railway will come into operation after formulating necessary laws, staff management and budget allocation, she said.
She added that even though the locals demanded the operation of the train at the occasion of Bibha Panchami in Janakpurdham, it was not possible for now.
During the inspection, the General Manager of Nepal Railways Niranjan Jha briefed Minister Yadav about the progress made so far in terms of railway operation.
He informed that the physical infrastructure of the railway had been completed at a cost of Rs. 623 crores and was already handed over to Nepal on November 8 from the Indian side.
Jha said that the remaining work of the physical infrastructure prepared for the operation of the railway could be done by the Indian side by now but that didn’t happen.
Minister Yadav was accompanied by the Director General of Railway Department Deepak Bhattarai and Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolis Lal Kishor Shah.
Minister Yadav will also inspect the engines and carriages of the two trains procured from India in Inarwa, Nepal, General Manager of Nepal Railways Jha said.
