Kathmandu, Nov. 12: Security bodies have prepared to deliver a high accord security to President of People's Republic of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid throughout his official goodwill visit to Nepal beginning from Tuesday.
President Hamid is embarking on his maiden and official four-day goodwill visit to Nepal at the invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
According to the Nepali Army Headquarters, President Hamid will be provided a Z-plus security level, which is the same as to the security provided to the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
"We haven’t made any change in the security measures to be delivered during the visit of President Hamid from what we had done during Xi's visit to Nepal last month," Brigadier General and spokesperson of Nepali Army Bigyan Dev Pandey told The Rising Nepal.
According to the Army Headquarters sources, President Hamid will land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at around 12:45 pm on Tuesday. The Nepali Army band will present a guard of honour to President Hamid at the VVIP lounge of the TIA.
According to sources, he will return home on Friday, November 15, at 16:10 pm wrapping up his four-day official goodwill visit.
Meanwhile, Nepal Police Headquarters said that President Hamid will stay at Hotel Marriot, Nagpokhari, Naxal in Kathmandu.
Receiving guard of honour at the TIA, the President will first directly head to Hotel Marriot and will then begin his official talks with the constitutional body members as scheduled.
According to Deputy Inspector General Shailesh Thapa Chhetri at Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, the government has managed special class of security provisions as mentioned in the Work Procedure related to the High Level Persons-2070.
The Work Procedure has stated that the NA will provide first layer of security of to any VVIP delegate in coordination of Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department.
Under the work procedure the security bodies has formed an Integrated Security Planning Committee headed by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.
The Committee will have Major General from the Nepali Army, AIGs from the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, as members.
Apart from the Integrated Security Planning Committee, District Security Committee headed by the CDO of Kathmandu has also been activated during the visit.
The Committee has also decided to deploy around 7,000 to 8,000 security forces to execute all these preparations in and outside the Valley as President Hamid was also going to Pokhara.
Under the Z-plus security format, President Hamid will be guarded with bullet proof vehicle along with specially trained 36 commandos group. Under Z, Y and X security format, there have to be special commandos of 22, 11 and 2 in numbers.
Special commandos to be deployed under these structures are capable enough in military skills and martial arts. They will also be equipped with modern arms/weapons and communication sets.
Brigadier General Pandey said that major security concern and issues were being coordinated by NA in close coordination with three other security bodies – Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department.
Also, according to a press statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 9, President Hamid will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the TIA upon his arrival.
As part of pre-scheduled itinerary, President Hamid will meet President Bhandari on the same evening of his arrival.
The President will host a banquet in honour of him and his delegation.
During the visit Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali will call on the President of Bangladesh.
Senior political leaders of Nepal will also call on the President of Bangladesh, according to the press statement.
As per the schedule, President Hamid will also visit Pokhara and the historical, archaeological and cultural sites in the Kathmandu Valley.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, issuing a press statement on Monday, urged all public and private vehicle riders not to use their small and heavy vehicles in the main roads inside the Valley to help ease the traffic arrangement.
SSP Bhim Dhakal of the Traffic Police Division said the division had urged all the vehicle possessors to use alternative routes during the visit of President Hamid.
