Chief District Officer (CDO) of the district, Noor Hari Khatiwada, informed that all the denizens in the district have been asked to stay indoors unless until urgent works.
"It is lockdown, which is like curfew. Coming out of home has been restricted throughout the district starting from Sunday night and until another notice," he said.
Earlier, a meeting of people's representatives, security forces and other stakeholders held at the District Administration Office on Sunday urged all the people in the district to not come out of home except for urgent task like medical treatment in case of sickness.
The CDO said that those who violated the order will be punished as per law and that those returning from India will be given two days to reach their home and the Gaddachauki, Nepal India border point, will be closed from Tuesday, March 24.
He said that groceries, dairies, pharmacies, petrol pumps and others that are involved in providing essential goods and services will remain open while the vehicles involved in rescue and relief works will also be allowed to operate in the district.
