By Devi Prasad Yadav, Saptari, Aug. 17: As many as 150 houses have been inundated in Tilathi-Koiladi Rural Municipality-5 of Saptari district with the collapse of the western embankment of the Jita River.
Two houses have been flattened due to flooding.
The water level in the river has been high since early Tuesday morning.
Rajesh Kumar Jha, an officer at the disaster management section of the rural municipality, informed that the river has started flowing toward the human settlement destroying the embankment and that 150 houses of Khang Tol, Sardar Tol, and Ram Tol have been submerged.
Satish Kumar Singh, Chairman of the rural municipality who was visiting the flooded area, said the rescue works for the victims of the flooding was already started and that details of the damage were also collected.
