Kathmandu, Sept 1: Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) is organising the 5th International Women’s Trade Expo 2021 (Virtual Exhibition) from September 2-6, 2021.
Realising that women entrepreneurs lack access to market and constantly face constraints in economic empowerment, FWEAN in 2016 initiated the International Women’s Trade Expo to ignite actionable insights and identify various other challenges women face in market access as well as possible solutions to those challenges.
The expo has been taking place every year since then. However, the 5th International Women’s Trade Expo planned for March 2020 was deferred due to COVID-19 outbreak.
This virtual exhibition is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba via zoom platform on September 2 this year. The purpose of the expo is to promote products of Nepali women entrepreneurs globally, develop their market and increase their sales.
Promoting and marketing of women’s products such as handicrafts, jewelry, organic products, food/agro products both at national and international level, establishing and building business relationship among Nepalese women entrepreneurs, business persons, exporters, and foreign buyers and providing an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to participate in an international expo at minimum costs are the major objectives of the expo.
There are 79 stalls representing 57 individual entrepreneurs and 22 Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (WEAN) Chapters participating at the expo and as usual two complimentary stalls are being provided to organisations providing skills to burn victims and socially marginalised women entrepreneurs.
The expo will be an online hub for buying and selling products of women entrepreneurs. This event is expected to bring in more than 100,000 people under a single platform, said the organiser.
