By Gokul Parajuli, Biratnagar, Nov. 9: Inmates at the Biratnagar district prison have started protests against the guards and the heads of the prison house.
They locked 14 people including inmates' guard Kiran Gurung and the heads in a room as part of their protest. Earlier, the inmates and their guards and heads had a dispute which resulted in a clash leaving 6 inmates including prisoner guard Gurung and heads injured.
The inmates said they started protesting because guard Gurung tortured the inmates randomly and exploited them financially.
Acting jailor Ram Prasad Pokharel informed that six inmates were injured in the clash between the two sides. He said guard Kiran Gurung and head Shekhar Rai, Nirmal Dhakal, Bishal Muktan, Dilli Devan and Surya Dip Gupta were injured. All the injured were taken to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment.
The police have taken out those locked inmates of the prison for security. Protesting inmates have stopped demonstration after those they had locked in a room were taken out of the prison.
The prison administration has started the process to transfer the 14 inmates including guard Gurung and heads and sub-heads to other jails.
