Kathmandu, March 7 : The Human Rights and Peace Society has elected a new executive committee led by Govinda Khanal of Rupandehi. Khanal was elected the new Chair of the HURPES unanimously by the 23rd national council meeting of the society that concluded in Pokhara on Saturday.
The two-day meeting also elected Sushil Basnet of Dang as the senior Vice-chair, Ratna Laxmi Shrestha and Krishna Bahadur Rawal as Vice-chairs, Ram Krishna Baral the General Secretary and Jagannath Pudasaini as the Treasurer, according to outgoing Chair Uttam Pudasaini.
Likewise, Bikas Thapa was elected Secretary of Province 1, Amar Bahadur Gautam of Province 2, Babuhari Acharya of Bagmati province, Dhiraj Thapa of Gandaki province, Mina Dhala of Lumbuni province, Puspa Malla of Karnali province and Madan Bahadur the secretary of Sudur Paschim province.
