Minister for Urban Development Mohammad Ishtiyak Rai has said the unity shown by the two religious communities in Banke has proved to be exemplary not only to entire Nepal but to the world.

“Goodwill and unity among the Hindu and Muslim communities of Banke has become exemplary to the world,” Minister Rai said.

Especially, the goodwill both the communities show during each other’s festival is commendable, said Rai while speaking in different greetings exchange programme for Tihar, Deepawali and Chhath in Nepalgunj.

Inaugurating a devotional singing programme (Kirtan) organised in Tribhuwan Chowk, Rai said, “The tradition of admiring Hindu festivals by the Muslims and the Muslim festivals by the Hindus has helped in smoothening the relationship between the two communities.”

Referring to the developmental works which he had undertaken in the district, the Minister said that some people had been spreading unnecessary rumours about the works he had done.

“No one can be a hurdle in development of Nepalgunj. Spreading of rumours will stop the development project I have brought in the city,” said Rai. “Nepalgunj will be an example for entire Nepal.”

Rai, who represents Banke constituency No. 2, said that he had been fulfilling all the promises he had made during the election.

Minister Rai had also joined in various Deusi-Bhailo programmes organised by various communities.

Shamsul Rai, personal secretary of minister Rai, said that the Minister had directed the concerned authorities for conducting inspection and improvement of children centres, police hospitals and the likes.
