Kathmandu, Oct. 25: Death toll from the post-monsoon mayhem from October 19 has reached 117 as of Sunday, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
According to an update of the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, floods and landslides triggered by the incessant rain in different parts of the country took the life of 57 men, 35 women and 25 children.

Thirty-two others have still been missing since the disasters. Of the total missing, 13 are men, seven women and 12 children, according to the NEOC.
Similarly, 44 persons have been injured because of the unseasonal rain caused by the low pressure developed in the Bay of Bengal and Odisha State of India eight days ago.
Joint Secretary and Focal Person for the Natural Disaster at the Ministry of Home Affairs Humkala Pandey said that the post-monsoon rain damaged 131 houses of which 30 got partially damaged and 101 were damaged completely.

Meanwhile, floods and landslides caused by unseasonal rains have caused a loss of more than Rs. 1 billion on the national highways alone since October 18.
According to the details of the preliminary damage presented to the Development and Technology Committee of the Parliament by the Director General of the Road Department Arjun Jung Thapa on Sunday, properties worth over Rs. 1 billion had been damaged on the national highways.

Director General Thapa said that 10 highways have been blocked in 18 places due to floods and landslides since October 18. Currently, only three highways are in smooth operation on both the lanes with one-way traffic in nine places.
He said that four highways were still blocked due to floods and landslides and traffic could not be restored in six places.
