Hari Tara Film Award to Madandas, Krishna Malla

Kathmandu, Dec. 7: Actor Krishna Malla and playwright and actor Madandas Shrestha will be honoured with the Hari Tara Film Award 2075 BS.
A meeting chaired by Manoj Shamsher Jabra, the patron of the Hari Tara Film Awards, also decided to present the 2076 Hari Tara Film Award to distinguished lyricist Sahadeb Dhungana.
The Hari Tara Film Award, established in 2052 BS by social worker Bijaya Rana (Tara Nani) in the name of herself and her husband Hari Shamsher, is the first award in the film industry.
The 2075 BS award is being given to actor Krishna Malla and actor Madandas Shrestha for their important contribution for the upliftment, protection and rights of Nepali film industry for more than four decades as well as for bringing Nepali art, culture, theater, radio drama to national and international attention.
Similarly, 2076 BS Hari Tara Film Award is being given to lyricist Sahadeb Dhungana for his over four-decade worth of the contribution as a songwriter. The three recipients of the award have each bagged Rs. 25,000 as cash prize.
Similarly, the meeting of Paribartan Nepal held on December 3 has decided to present the Durga Devi Punya Niraula Memorial Award 2076 BS to journalist Rajesh Khanal and actress Sapana Shrestha.
The prize amount for Durga Devi Punya Niraula Memorial Award is Rs. 10,000 each. The same meeting of Paribartan Nepal has also decided to honour Mohan Pant, secretary of the Kathmandu branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, director/actor Biswadeep Ghimire and director/actor, journalist Madhab Raj Kharel with Paribartan Samman 2076 BS.
The awards and honours have been recommended by committee members including Mohan Niraula, designer Sundar Shrestha and journalist/lyricist Shantipriya.
The previous recipients of the Hari Tara Film Award include Maha Jodi’s Haribansha Achrya and Madan Krishna Shrestha, Shiva Shrestha, Bishwa Basnet, Rabindra Khadka, Ramesh Budhathoki, Bhuban Thapa, Karisma Manandhar, Sharmila Malla, Rekha Thapa, among others.
The award and honour programme will be held in the second week of Nepali month Push by adopting and adhering to health protocols recommended by WHO and the government of Nepal.
