Nawalpur, Oct 19: Chief Minister of Gandaki State Prithvi Subba Gurung Saturday said that the dream of setting up a university at Gaindakot would be realised soon.
Speaking at a discussion on the model of proposed Nepal University, Chief Minister Gurung said he was always supportive of the idea of developing Gaindakot area through the establishment of a university.
It is a moment of pride that all educated manpower living in the country and abroad have gathered for initiating development of the place, he said. “If all parties support the university establishment campaign in this way, the dream will fulfill soon,” Gurung said.
Locals and stakeholders of Gaindakot started discussing about the proposed Nepal University. The university was conceptualised two years ago.
Chhatra Raj Poudel, chief of Gaindakot Municipality, said they started discussing about the Nepal University with all stakeholders through a three-day seminar.
Now the municipality has been conducting seminar with technical teams regarding subject-wise issue including investment, time, coordination and other aspects, Poudel said.
Dr. Pramod Dhakal, coordinator of University Establishment Taskforce, said the taskforce will submit university establishment process to the government after the conclusion of discussion with the stakeholders and representatives.
Dr. Arjun Karki asked with residents of Gaindakot to take the university as own property and ask to join in the campaign of university establishment.
In the seminar professor from America, U.K, France, Germany and Canada had participated. The team will also look for the potential location as the site of the university.
Sushila Karki, former Chief Justice, said Gaindakot must take initiation to keep education aloof from politics. The newly established university has to deliver pure education, Karki added.
The establishment of university could help minimise the brain-drain, Om Kala Gautam, state assembly member, said.
At the discussion Krishna Poudel, a former constituent assembly member, state parliamentary members Bishnu Lamichhane and Krishna Chandra Nepali also said they would support the establishment of university.
